"Vibe-Coding" Influencers Are Ruining Your Life
You’ve seen the screenshots.
$30K/month MRR.
Bali beaches.
“Vibe-coding” apps in 3 days with AI.
And suddenly every developer starts thinking: “I can do that too.”
But here’s the truth no one tells you:
✅ Coding was never the bottleneck.
You can build an MVP in a weekend with ChatGPT.
❌ Getting users is the real bottleneck.
❌ Keeping them is even harder.
That requires marketing, sales, distribution, audience-building — skills most devs never focus on.
What influencers don’t show you:
• The 67 apps they launched before anything worked
• The nonstop posting that fuels their growth
• The months they made $0
• The fact that many earn more from courses than from SaaS
And the biggest lie?
That quitting your job is the “freedom path”.
Reality check:
A mid-level engineer earns $10K/month predictably.
A solo founder works 12-hour days with no salary, no insurance, no PTO — and often ends up going back to a job within months.
You CAN build something great.
But it usually takes 5+ years, not 5 weeks.
Most developers shouldn’t quit their job unless:
• They’re Senior/Lead level
• Highly employable
• Have 6–12 months savings
• Can handle making $0 for a year
• And are okay doing sales, support, marketing, accounting, editing…
For everyone else?
Stay employed.
Keep leveling up.
Switch companies every 2 years.
Negotiate hard.
Save + invest.
Let compounding do the heavy lifting.
Do that for 10 years → you’ll be wealthier than 99% of “indie hackers”.
If you still want to build a SaaS, go for it — but go in with clear eyes, not Twitter FOMO.
